Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Questionnaires for you to complete.
Nominate someone who might know you really well, particularly when you were growing up (parents, siblings, close friends). I will ask this person to complete some questionnaires also. This is not completely necessary but it helps a lot with the assessment if you are comfortable having someone else provide some information.
If you have copies of other reports completed in the past that might be helpful, I may also request copies of these.
Once these questionnaires are completed, the next step is organising an interview with you. Some of the things we talk about during this interview include different parts of your childhood, your relationships with other people, difficulties with sensory sensitivities and your mental health history.
I may also ask to complete an interview with the nominated person (if required), if you are comfortable with this.
At this stage, if there are additional pieces of information that I think might help with the assessment, I can inform you about them. It might involve more interviewing or completing different questionnaires, for example.
Feedback session: Once the assessment is complete, we will organise a feedback session to bring all of the information together, and talk about this in the context of an autism diagnosis.
A report is prepared to include the information gathered throughout the assessment and includes all of the information provided in the feedback session.
